Which range of resistors can be used for 1.5 lt capacity MFC?

Am constructing a double chamber MFC with a 1.5lt capacity. I want to draw a polarization curve for which I need resistors. Can anybody tell me the range of resistor I can use and at how many intervals I have to take the reading of voltage.
