I am going to write an article now based on my previous work. My work is based in silico drug designing for infectious disease. I don't have any experience with writing research articles? Can anyone help me?
Are there basic outlines / points which should be keep in mind while writing any research article?
I will add some things here which once my supervisor told me to remember while writing the original research article.
1. Title and abstract are very important for every article which attracts the attenstion and interest of the reader, and specially if reviewer likes the title and abstract, then he/she develops positive attitude towards your paper.
2. Your introduction should be relevant and precise giving enough background about the work you are going to show in your paper. Avoid too descriptive and unnecessary text.
3. Last paragraph of your introduction section should talk about important results of your work
4. Pay very much attention to your 'DISCUSSION' section and try to avoid repeating the sentenses from 'RESULTS' section here. Discussion is the place where you compare your data with already published work and draw your correlation or so..
5. Conclusion from your study and hint for future work is also desirable.

First choose the journal wherever you want to send. download their format and follow the author's instructions. Since, your article is based on "in silico drug designing for infectious disease". It must be docking or QSAR study.. The general format for all the article is subdivided into ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, MATERIAL AND METHOD, RESULT AND DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, REFERENCES, tABLE LEGENDS, FIGURE LEGENDS,and then fugures and tables with captions. Better you read some of the insilico article, how they write and what are the information is important for the paper. You can see the articles of Journal of Molecular modeling, Journal of molecular modeling and graphics, Medicinal chemistry reseach, BMC Bioinformatics and some other docking journals.

Thanks Om. Yes I am reading journal related to my subject. Should Table-Legend be included at last or can be added wherever description is there? And yes I will go through this Journal for details of Author's instruction definitely .
Table Legends and Fugure Legend sould be in the last after just Reference as i said in my earlier post. Keep everything in the same Doc file. You need to add Title page also. which should contain Title of the article, Authors name, Affiliations and then full address of corresponding autour.

A research article should include, solid and achievable answers to your hypothesis. you have to write a background in a story fashion about your topic then the methodology which will explain how you carried out your task. then results and then discuss you results in detail and thats it.
Yes you are right, discussing result and comparing novel result with other's result is most important task.

Please go through the sample paper from journal on similar lines and then format your paper accordingly..
Its a very good question and most of the things have been covered about writing a good journal paper. Of course "Title and Abstract" are the key features of a research article. Title should be short, precise and clearly indicating your motive of writing the the research article. You should explain the main results in the abstract still keeping it precise and informative. Experimental techniques should be addressed properly. Figures should be clear and having good resolution. Figure captions should be precise and to the point with no extra text.
The most important thing is that we should avoid copying texts or figures from other research articles. Plagiarism is a serious offense. We should seriously take care of this.
I agree what prveious answers have been given I suggest that you can see the journal site and then according to their specifications can write an article. But remember that it can be rejected or asked to modify donot get discouraged you hv keep patience and go ahead.
Summing up all different views, very good points/guidelines have been suggested.In spite of above papers get rejected.Stress should be given to project quality and one's own original work
