I my local area farmland is high soil ph between 8-10. The soil is just only alkaloid and not saulty. The water quality is good. Which pear root stock will be suitable for best quality and quantity?
In general, pears do not require alkaline soils. I unfortunately do not know the cultivars of fruit species, so I can not recommend any suitable cultivar of a pear tree.
If the quality of the soil and the available water are common, there is certainly plenty of pomological options. A suitable large and long-term tree could be almond (Prunus dulcis). Other species well grown on alkaline soils: Mespilus, Hippophae and Cornus.
Thanks a lot Bozena. In general, pear seedling wild species can tolerant soil bad conditions related pear, But i'm not enough thing about the fruit quality and quantity meanwhile after grafting.
