Hi, I'm trying to design a reduced scale model of a turbine tested with glycerol. The prototype idea is to install a turbine in tailings flux to recover a percentaje of energy from it.

The reduced scale model will test the turbine (reduced scale) functioning with glycerol, to simulate viscosity and density of the tailings. The porpose is to get the efficiency of the turbine functioning with tailings.

I have two main questions:

1. Which parameter should I match to scale the machine ? Reynolds, tip speed ratio?

2. How can I scale the viscosity? reynolds?

I feel I need more equations to develop the similarity between Q, RPM, Viscosity, density, etc.
