Is "velocity of flyer plate" or "flyer plate mass" more important? In other words, to have higher shock stress in the target, higher velocity can help more or higher mass?
I need this experiment to consolidate metal powder.
Basically the achieved pressure in your target is a combination of the experiment's velocity (velocity of flyer plate) and the the flyer plate's density. According to the follow equation:
P=ZfZt/(Zif+Ztt)*V
where Z is the acoustic impedance of flyer plate (f) and target (t) and V the experiment velocity.
Z equals to the multiplication of bulk sound velocity by density
