Mother Nature is the ultimate Engineer! I believe, there are organism or mechanism in nature which are far more efficient in dissipating heat than the best man-made heat transfer mechanism. May I please get some answers pointing to the above issue? Thanking in advance.
I think one of the more interesting natural system to dissipate heat can be see in the elephant ears.
At a different scale, the tongue is also used by dogs to dissipate heat.
That's true. But can you please tell me how to understand the mechanism behind that?

Filippo Maria Denaro answer is interesting - so ears are just moving extended surfaces: they have natural convection from a large surface, there is also a better chance to transfer heat due to forced convection if there's a wind and also they can flap them so create forced convection. But these principles are well understood by the engineers. Humans and mammals also sweat so this is more efficient heat transfer than a convection without phase change. Interesting, whether there are some animals that do something really sophisticated like a phase change, latent heat, all kind of stuff like that and maybe something else that we do not know about.
I would explore also the capability of dogs to produce heat transfer only by their tongue
I believe the heat transfer mechanism of we the humans through our body hair is also quite adequate. Any view?
