Actually, I meant to ask a different question. Basically, like, if I want to show a simple rankine cycle or brayton cycle with each parts, viz: turbines, compressors, working and the working fluid moving in the cycle, so which software I should go for?
I am able to make a rough schematic using MS powerpoint but if I want do simulation, which software will be better?
I was going to suggest PowerPoint for the drawing. Are you interested in numbers and results or just pictures? http://dudleybenton.altervista.org/projects/GateCycle/index.html
If you want to program it yourself use something based CoolProp or pyromat, TESPy would offer a solution for building your cycles with predefined components. For plotting I created fluprodia which is based on CoolProp but has some nice visuals for different fluid property diagrams.
AS DJB says above excel is the best method because it requires the user to appreciate the calculations. The various programs are fine if used well: in the wrong hands they are deadly!
