we want to calibrate our Arcswat model for the case study, our objective is to use the resulted runoff and crop yield in the area. so I have some questions:
1-which kind of observed data are suitable and should be used in the calibration?
2-we have lack of observed data: so can we use soil data for calibration?

Dear Shima,
You need to have observed streamflow for calibration. If you don't have sufficient number of streamflow data (say not on a continuous time series), you can relate the discontinuous streamflow with even pressure observations and find a relation. That can be used to calibrate the streamflow.

Crop yield: you need to have accurate information on the management practice such as fertilizer use, irrigation, and crop calendar as well. If your study are is in the temperate zone, most of the common plants' growth property is included in SWAT database; if not, you need to be accurate on the plant growth property that you are adding into the SWAT database.
Surface runoff: there are various articles out there that help you to simulate surface runoff accurately. However, whatever your objective is, rainfall data is the most important one.

off course both are difficult to obtain,but still there are otherways to find it out.
which crop you r growing on the basis of that its water consumption during season/day will be available in any of the hand book FAO,but that too check with actual.

Do you know any software by which using ET and runoff of stream I can calculate the crop water requirement.
Is there any specific methodologies for hilly area to estimate the crop water requirement.
