I am researching for a paper discussing cross-training to other modalities in radiology and was wondering which is the most common modality radiology technology choose? MRI or CT
Hello, anecdotally in the UK it would be CT. It's more common for CT to be a part of the radiographers general rotation especially if senior, while MRI would often need proper specialising into.
This could be determined by considering the frequency of examinations performed by each modality. CT is more prevalent in number of installations, examinations but also access in countries like Australia, UK and Canada. CT is inherently much quicker to perform due to the acquisition time differences between the two modalities. So, I would suspect it is CT over MRI. It is possible to review published government data on referrals/billing.
Have you contacted ARRT to see what resources they have that you could tap into? Granted that only covers the trend in the USA, but it might be a good starting point.
