Hello, I am currently doing some research and development on Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) farming. As you may know, insects do not produce pepsin. Instead, BSFL uses trypsin and chymotrypsin to digest their protein. I need to measure the protein digestibility of the substrate I am feeding my insects, in order to conduct experiments.

I had never studied biology, animal nutrition, or entomology, so I am not sure how to proceed in measuring protein digestibility. I need to send the sample to the animal feed testing lab, though they do not provide protein digestibility test in their standard method so I need to provide them with the method. Nevertheless, the only standard method I can find for protein digestibility is for pepsin digestibility (Pepsin digestibility 0.02% AOAC(2016) 971.09). Do you know any standard method i can provide to the nutrition testing lab for trypsin digestibility or trypsin and chymotrypsin digestibility? Alternatively, can I use pepsin digestibility test instead?
