The method of data collection will be an appraisal and evaluation of different disastrous situations. While the objectives is to;
1. Identify possible causes of some disasters
2. Investigate the effects of disasters on conditions, and essential lifeline services
3. Analyze the effect of disasters on public services and Environmental Health Services
4. Identify ways of Planning for effective management of environmental health services and resources in the event of a sudden natural disaster.
5. The management of disaster-created environmental health conditions

are you planning a research study and if so why. I agree with Ian that prevention is bets strategy but hard to study prevention unless you have an environment where there are frequent disasters and a new preventive strategy has resulted in reduced frequency of occurrence.

All the topic areas are pretty broad you need to narrow down the fields. I recommend you focus on environmental health aspects of a particular area in the disaster cycle. I would look at CRED, FEMA Database of disaster declarations and lessons learned documents available on line from previous disasters e.g. Haiti, 2004 tsunami etc. For prevention start with the new Sendai framework for DRR. For environmental effects there are also citations about WASH in the literature related to public health consequences of disasters which include environmental health like post Katrina reports etc..
While I agree with Miguel that the topic areas are potentially broad containing many aspects that could be studied through reductionist analysis they can also be studied by taking a holistic view which is the challenge for organisations and receives much less but much needed attention. Success in this area requires a combination of analysis and synthesis in order to optimise the overall arrangements leading to maximum prospect while minimising prospect. Integrated prospect and risk management cannot be achieved through non-integrated approaches. The devil is in both the big picture and the detail.
