Abstract
A practical procedure for obtaining an alcoholic protein-free filtrate from blood (or plasma) and determining its glucose content is described.
Isolation of glucose from this filtrate was carried out by the preparation and crystallization of potassium gluconate. The radioactive specific activity of the isolated salt was determined by liquid scintillation counting in an acid scintillator solution, in which samples containing up to 50 mg potassium gluconate were dissolved.
The technical procedures described in this paper have been used in this laboratory, in routine work, for more than 3 years.
