The most significant factor for Metal matrix composites is high wet ability for matrix and second phase (ceramic particles). So particles such as SiC, TiC can wet easily with the metal matrix. The composite can have all the specification which you need, as mention above.

SiC, Al2O3, works in the improvement of the wear resistance, increase the hardness, the strength in some cases, there are works in other reinforcement materials like, graphite, actually in my group we are working in graphite and other oxides.- composites Al-oxide particles.
