If we use the Stack Overflow Trends to see Global Trends in the development and usage of current, new and old, programming languages, then we will quickly discover that "Javascript "and "Python" are the faster growing in popularity, usage and development frameworks. They look like getting much more trendy than other languages. We can observe also "r" and other new languages, like "swift", also growing very fast.. Please, have a look at it by yourself:
