I would like to run a fluorescence assay on the plate reader and I want to order a micro-plate and I do not know which one I should be used and if they are disposable or not.
You should get black plates for fluorescence measurements. They are offered by many companies, including Corning, Greiner, and Nunc. Most black plates are made of polystyrene, although you can also get them made of polypropylene. They are disposable, and are not intended for reuse. If you use only some of the wells in an experiment, however, you can save the plate and use the remaining wells later in order to save money.
Thanks a lot for your answer. I wonder if I can use any brand of black microplates for any type of plate reader instruments or there is any recommendations for each type of equipments.
Microplates all have a standard size. All plate readers use the same size standard, as far as I know. It is called the SBS standard. The dimensions of the wells can vary, but that does not affect the ability of the plate to read them because the centers of the wells are always in the same place.
