Hello, I am trying to ask which device is the best to determine if there is any intermolecular bonding (i.e. hydrogen bonding) between polymers? Is it FTIR or SEM? If not, what are some good alternatives? Thank you.
Mohammed Bakir FTIR will provide the H-bonding interactions in polymers. The region of interest would be 3000 - 3600 cm-1, with a broad band, which can be deconvoluted to different peak fitting. If your polymer has carbonyl group, then around 1600 - 1800 cm-1, here you will see a shift in the peaks to lower wave number due to hydrogen bonding.
