I am trying to control position of hydraulic cylinder through electro hydraulic servo valve. My current program is in the form of block diagram which is created in Matlab/simulink. Please suggest me hardware so that i can transfer simulink program into hardware and after then can control position of hydraulic cylinder through servo valve. One possible suggestion is Arduino board but do not know such board can be used or not because its output is digital.
Arduino has library for servo control. It is PWM control with 5V level.
You can try Arduino DAC board with MCP4725.
Anyway You needs convert 5V to industrial 24V.
Maybe You needs to use your own PWM-mode to generate analog conrol current.

Is it on a desk in a dry laboratory?
Is it on a building site, exposed to dirt and dust?
Is it underwater?
Without knowing the context, it is difficult to give an example.

There are a multitude of ways to measure position. Magnetic strip encoders, ultrasonic ToF, interferometric, etc. It's not possible to give any one as the 'best' without knowing more.

What type of electro hydraulic servo valve is in your lab? This is the start point.
Although an Arduino could be considered "overkill", I'd suggest to use one: these are easy to program, you can get all kinds of "shields" to adapt to your hardware, and it's reusable and reasonably low-cost. I'd consider it the perfect choice for simple to medium-complex control tasks.
