I have performed several enzymatic: lipolytic, amylolytic, and proteolytic activity assay.

After looking into it, it turns out there are three formulas for calculating the hydrolytic index.

For example:

D: diameter of hydrolysis zone

d: diameter of bacterial colony

First formula: (D-d/)d

Second formula: D/d

Third formula: (D+d)/d

What is the meaning of these three formulas?

Thanks in advance.
