Which forest insect to choose to rear in lab to do a phytosanitary treatment testing?

Need to choose and rear a forest insect in a lab. Something that is easy to breed and obtain. Currently thinking of trying ambroisa beetles (Norris & Chu, 1985, Biedermann 2009). Any other even more easy to breed options? Is there anyone who has personal experience using Norris and Chu and Biedermann method?

I have seen some Geman toxicological studies made on springtails (Collembola). If not mistaken, it was University of Stuttgart or Freiberg.
