I try to use SEM to see the morphology of chitosan nanolarticle. I put the solution of chitosan nanoparticle into cover glass and air dry for SEM analysis. Is there anyone knows which one is better for my sample?
Both are okay but I would recommend gold coating due to its better conductivity to minimize the charge up and improved contrast of the particles surface. If possible, please use thin mica sheet as a substrate rather than cover glass.
In addition to the previous answer, I want to add that if you wish to do eds also, then chose one which is not present in your material, or whose peaks are coming away (not overlapping) from the other peaks of your material (otherwise it will not give right values).
For your task gold is better. Just make coating as thin as possible. If you have Au-Pd target for your sputter coater, it will be better than pure Au.
