Gubernaculum gives rise to smooth and striated muscles around processus vaginalis. Descent of a testis is succeeded by propelling the testis through processus vaginalis. After propelling the testis, the smooth muscle should undergo programmed cell death (PCD) for the obliteration of processus vaginalis.

PCD requires a transient shift in autonomic tone in favor of parasympathetic tonus.

The central mechanism which decreases sympathetic tone, also poses unfavorable effects on hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis.

Where can this center be located? What can the mechanism be for shifting the autonomic tone and influencing hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis?
