Now I'm working on catfish remains from the late Miocene and Pliocene strata of Ukraine. Most of them belongs to the genus Silurus. However, in some cases I can not distinguish it at the species level. Some of the bones are quite similar in morphology to those in Silurus soldatovi Nikolsky et Soin, 1948, other are partly comparable with Silurus altus (Sytchevskaya, 1989). Please, let me know, which bones and which their morphological features can be used for the species differentiation of these remains? I am open for cooperation and will be thankful for any information and advice!
