I need a single antibody that can be used to label any cell type. Are there any surface proteins expressed in all human cell lines that I could target? If you know an exact antibody, please let me know. Cheers, Alex
Your best bet would be a pan-anti-MHC-I antibody, which would stain every cell type except platelets and erythorocytes. MHC-I is also found inside the cell, so perform the stain prior to permeabilization to ensure it is limited to the surface. A quick google search found this: http://www.scbt.com/datasheet-32235.html. I have never used this antibody before, so I cannot attest to how well it works. Good luck.
What do you want it for? I use the anti-HLA class 1 ABC from Abcam (ab70328) to detect human tumor cells in mice (I work with patient derived xenograft tumors), and it works really well.
