Please, take a look in articles from Britta Ricker and Daniel Z. Sui. Maybe they can be helpfull.

I have experience in VGI collection through Android. In detail my team run some experiments using the Open Data Kit (ODK, http://opendatakit.org) suite, which also includes a mobile Android app named ODK Collect. I am not sure if this can help you, however I suggest some papers we wrote you can have a look at:

Marco, yes, your papers suggested will be very helpful with state-of-art review part and encompasses very well the research subjects.

Mounir, the project is a basically an application of Android VGI in a resources-deprived community in Curitiba. The keywords relate to the theoretical base. The applications might develop soon.

Silas, yes, I took a look in these autors and they also provide a very good base as well.
