We know that this disease has no cure and those who suffer from it usually die 5 years after diagnosis. We want to know if the people who manage to live a little more than those 5 years is due to a specific treatment, if not, would that mean that it depends on each person?

Currently, riluzole can extend lifespan by 2-3 months. Edaravone helps with quality of life and symptoms but doesn't extend life expectancy.
ALS progression is highly heterogenous, hence even with riluzole, patient life expectancy can still be well under 5 years after the 1rst symptoms.
