please help me to searach literature review of powdered activated carbon with earthworms to treat domestic wastewater & suggest some good or bad effects of Powdered activated carbon on earthworms
activated carbon is contening amount of chlorine it is effect on earthworms activities so you use beking soda small amount or use more cow dung . Thanks
If the activation of carbon is done just by heating it will not affect the survival and growth of EWs. As suggested any pollutant's toxicity will be reduced by cow dung. But care should be taken to add only dry cow dung as the fresh one will emanate heat and kill EWs.
It will affect their metabolism rate and will disturb the feeding behavior. Powder activated carbon can change the physico-chemical scenario of the soil which may result in sub-lethal on fauna community as well as flora.
Powered activated carbon affects the earthworm's survival rate- it reduces - whether it can be used for treating the wastewater depends upon the characteristics of the wastewater
