Tropical theileriosis which is characterised by lymphoproliferative changes and anaemia in infected cattle, in literature it was mentioned that the concentration of Haptoglobin increased in infected cattle. Even though pathogenesis and clincal signs were mainly due proliferation of lymphocyte, anaemia occurs in tropical theileriosis due to lysis of erythrocytes.
In contrast to this, in Canine babesiosis and Human babesiosis (characterised by intravascular hemolysis), many researchers found decreased concentration of haptoglobin in infected animals/ humans than in healthy control groups.
