Agrarian economy, surpuls managemnt is becoming a serious problem. Even if defficit, country need to import goods, But vertual water trade indirectly unfavaour those countries whose water resource are poor. therefore, vertual water trade should seriouely debated and carfully import and export the goods and services.
Very good question . Our post -harvest infrastrucual facilities are still quite wanted to have well guarded shelf life of foodgrains. But , i dont agree with later part of your question to put a halt on further hike in production . We could realise such production through strong technological interventions , not easy to achieve to achieve by any mean. ..
In my view, the local agricultural value chain market should be organized to handle surplus production. As @Anoop Kumar Srivastava already mentioned technological support interventions are inevitable for value additions to agro produce. It may not be a good idea to hault production.
This is a very good discussion! What is the importance of potential unless we use it! Assuming the current potentials of the world, there are still high water and land potential to produce more. Resources must be efficiently utilized. I recommend onsite utilization of the resources especially water resources. African has the potentials for water and soil resources for the production of more food for the rest of the world. But, when they start to develop a means of using their own resources there are many internationally complex issues. I feel the new generation should develop something about effective and prudent utilization of resources for the benefit of the whole world!

There are difficult to have a correct answer for this question. In my opinion, we shouldn't suggest a solution to halt agricultural production. All of us know that in agriculture-based countries, most people live dependent on their farms. It means that there will be a lot of social problems if farming is stopped. A good solution for those countries should be to develop agricultural logistics services, especially for the preservation and processing of agricultural products.
