I have synthesized PbS quantum dots.. its looks brown in color. but, when i check in UV-vis spectrophotometer peaks were not visible.
Have you tried by dispersing a little amount of PbS sample in ethanol/acetone/chloroform?
Most of the time PbS QD have infrared exciton.
they absorb all visible wavelength in the visible which make them brown/dak in solution
very small PbS QD will have feature around 800nm and big one up to 2µm typically
