Dear Eko and all, the data service www.myocean.eu provides a gridded product called 'Global Observed Ocean Physics Temperature Salinity and Currents Reprocessing (1993-2011)' which might be of interest. Check the data catalogue. The service is free, but requires registration. All the best and thanks for the useful information.
SMOS also provides Salinity maps http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Observing_the_Earth/SMOS/Mapping_soil_moisture_and_ocean_salinity
I'm not sure they are directly freely available, but I know some of the people involved in the project which I guess could probably proviode them to you for instutitional use.
Yannis please do teh favor to me as well. If there is any salanity data for India Ocean, Arabian Sea and Persian Gulf is available in thsi dataset, I will also be very happy to get access to it.
You can find salinity data here http://www.catds.fr/Products/Available-products-from-CEC-OS/Locean-v2013, but there are big gaps in the regions you are working on

You can access sea surface salinity from the Aquarius data set from OceanColor Biological Processing Group freely, but in return you should acknowledge them for their contribution.
Yannis, I need the same data for my PhD thesis. I m working on larvae distribution and SSS is one of the factors affecting the distribution. The study area restricted to Caspian Sea and the time period is from early March to late September 2015 . Could you please do me a favor, let me to download it freely?
