Does anyone know any reliable source (research/ news article) that explains the health/environmental hazards/toxicity of transition/noble metal catalysts? It would be great it is something that I can formally give a citation to.
One does not really need to know the hazards of all transition metals. If you working with a specific metal just check its toxcity at Google. You will get enough information about each metal.
You can consult one chapter titled Toxicity of heavy metals of the book Bioremediation of Heavy Metals from the Wastewater by the Biomass of Microorganisms authored by Dr NEHA SINGH and published by SARA BOOK PUBLICATION ISBN: 9781730275081.You will be able to note references related to hazards of the metals.
One more thing has to be mentioned about the toxcity of transition metals. All of these metals, even those which are assential for life، become toxic if they are introduce to the body more than the allowed amount.
I think that most of transition metals are essential for life ، but overdose of this metals make it toxic. finally we know many heavy metal ions are toxic such as cadmium.
Our knowledge of the effects, either good or bad, in humans body is far from enough. I think the introduction of a tiny amount of an element to the body may have thrmendous effects and because the body is so complicated these effects are not easy to recognize. We have a long way to go to know these effects
classified as human carcinogens (known or probable) according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
