I would like to buy ultra high purity Ga for our III-V-MBE.
If any of you know a reliable source for this material, this would be great.
The purity analysis is usually not a good reference, as material that is claimed to be very pure does not necessary give good results in mobility. If you could instead tell of any group using the material and getting good mobilities, this would be most helpful.
Another detail: I found 8N purity material that has more impurities than 7N5 material from another source. How reliable are those glow discharge purity analysis?

I've been using 7N Gallium from Arnaud Electronics for more than ten years with very satisfying results, getting good GaAs mobilities (sometimes over 10^5 cm2/Vs for n = 2-3 10^14).

The material quality we need in our projects (single InAs QDs in an electrically "calm" GaAs environment), demands mobilities in the >10^6 cm2/Vs range. I have still some GEO Gallium (from Arnaud electronics) left at the mentioned specifications but did not want to use it.
I believe we need at least 8N material here.
It might be some impurity species that is crucial for the quality.

we use for our HVPE Ga from slovakia (www.cmk.sk), gut purity only 7N. You are right that some impurities are crucial for the quality and so 7N Material can be better than 7N5 material.
A source for 8N Ga is China (www.jm-gallium.com), 8N Ultra purity gallium for MBE.

We use Gallium from MCP (7N+) and Recapture Metals (8N). Note that you cant necessarily obtain these materials direct from the manufacturer and might have to go through an agent such as Azelis Electronics or WaferTech.
We also have a small stock of GEO MBE+ grade Gallium which went through extra refinement processes to produce the highest purity to date but unfortunately that was a special batch of production of around 50kgs and is no longer available.
If enough of us are interested in this ultra high purity Gallium maybe we can all combine and convince a manufacturer to go through the extra refining steps for another batch.
