Pingree et al. (1976) didn't design a "scale" in the sense that you mean (i.e., an attitudinal scale with items that can be rated). Their work was instead focused on an ordinal set of categories that they developed based on earlier work to measure how much sexism occurs in a given representation. The ordinal consciousness scale that they examined looks at the extent to which media representations of women are limited to special roles and relationships. They looked at five levels of representation on this consciousness scale, with women's opportunities increasing as you go up the scale. They validated the scale using content analysis of advertising featuring women in four magazines (Ms., Time, Newsweek, and Playboy).
In short, this is not an attitudinal scale with items; it is a scale that can be used in content analyses to understand sexist representations of women.
