My name is Ahmad Mhanna and I am currently a rising sophomore studying statistics (cgpa:3.72) at the Middle East technical university who is deathly interested in a lot of the major business related fields. I wish to pursue a phd in business or DBA but in order to transition successfully from undergraduate I need to have published a few papers or have partaken in some research projects. I have been finding it hard to particularly attract the interest of any professor/mentor to be able to participate and with corona extending my lockdown its only becoming harder to communicate and locate opportunities. How exactly can I start or participate in research projects and conferences as an undergraduate student in my position?
Topics of particular interest: Economic implications of cryptocurrencies, analyzing workplace ethics and incentives to recognize an ideal format for start ups, stable coins, defining hedge funds as small businesses, etc.

First of all I would like to thank you for replying to my post, this means much more to me than I might lead on. Secondly, the major problem that I am facing is that I don't have a mentor figure to help with both projects and conference participation. It strongly seems as if I do not know how to start and where to begin with, I understand that conferences will play a big role in the adaptation of my findings but is it normal to feel extremely confused with how I can start projects or work towards a conference?
Ahmad, the topic areas, including cryptocurrencies, start ups and small businesses as well as organisational ethics are crucial aspects worthy of investigation. To my mind, you will find potential collaborators in any one of or a couple of these areas once you continue to persist to look for networks of scholars in these areas.
