Kharon Malware Dataset http://kharon.gforge.inria.fr/dataset/index.html you can find detailed analyzed Android malware. Just take the hash and download the file from https://koodous.com/

Plus, there may be group of specialists teams who develop new malware for the experimentation purposes. Search Google for MSc/PhD studies in Malware.

The most popular pre-generated datasets are: Malgenome, and Drebin (as mentioned). 

If you would like to build your own dataset, apart from the usual services (VirusTotal, Koodous and VirusShare), you can also download samples from:

I have worked on this malware dataset in the past (5 months ago) and instrumented their apps through our developed tool. We captured around 1000 malicious and normal apps logs. The logs are captured through real human interaction. We already published the log dataset. You can find more information regarding the log dataset at following link:

I have downloaded the android malicious apps from drebin. But where to download the android benign apps. i need at least around 8000 benign apps from different categories

Nowadays, we can find other projects available, some of them are:

• Drebin is a good project with a research article to support it, it provides a malware dataset that has 5560 integrated by 179 families.
• AndroZoo includes 5669661 applications downloaded from different sources (it includes apps from Google Play)
• Virushare is another repository, it is a good choise if you can work with it.
• DroidCollector provides Apks (8000 benign apps and 8860 malwares) and .pcap files, this project has some research articles, and they applied both static and dinamic analysis in their study.
• Another good option to analyse the last malware is to download them from Contagio mobile
• Android Malware Dataset (AMD) has 24,553 samples, it is integrated by 71 malware families ranging from 2010 to 2016
• AndroidMalGenome is discontinued
