I wonder which solvent (organic) is the best to use as a media for singlet oxygen generation. The purpose is to increase singlet oxygen lifetime as much as possible. In other words, in which solvent the rate of physical quenching by solvent molecules is lowest?

Alternatively, it would be useful to know, which organic solvents are inert to singlet oxygen and which are not. For example, can EtOH or toluene be used as a media for singlet oxygen generation or not (due to possible oxidation reactions)?

Does anyone know some papers, discussing these issues?
