I wish to get away from opinion polls and vague expressions such as good or poor. I am looking for a precise job evaluation, preferably using numbers. With this I could than compare one teacher to another and show exactly why they scored differently.
There are various tools for measuring teaching quality. Some of them are proxy tools like teaching effectiveness, while others might be measures of students learning and other educational outcomes. For these, using performance test scores, learning gains scores and perceived satisfactions are quite commonly used. In one of my studies on cooperative learning, I used a validated instrument comprising the many dimensions of teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and learning outcomes. Even if finding a magic tool is out of touch looking for those tools that incorporate multiple indicators is quite relevant. Here you have the one resource.
