For pressure loss calculation for two phase fluid flow these two methods are considered in the literature for determining frictional pressure drop .

𝜆: Darcy’s friction factor

𝜆 = 0.184 / Re ^ 0.20 for Turbulent (Colburn)

𝜆 = 64 / Re for Laminar

f: Fanning friction factor

△P=2fLG^2/ρD

and also The Darcy friction factor 𝜆 is 4 times larger than the Fanning friction factor f .

So in which conditions can we use either Darcy or Fanning friction factor for calculation of pressure drop ?
