In pre-clinical pharmacokinetic study (SD rat), the interesting compound will be injected into the left tail vein, when is the best time to obtain the first blood sample from the right tail vein?

Please note that we have some concern from our animal ethics committee regarding jugular vein cannulation as we do not have the proper facilities. We then have to change the blood collection site to tail vein. We realise that the interference could have happened when analysing the compound concentrations but, if possible, we want to keep it minimal.

Based on the previous data, the compound has elimination half life ranged from 2-3 hours.

Thank you.
