As known that there are three groups of luminescence detectors are applied in radiation dosimetry: thermoluminescence (TLD), optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and radiophotoluminescence (RPLGD) dosimeters.
Our questions:
1- What's the major luminescent dosimeter used to measure the patient's dose in Radiation Therapy?
2- Are TLDs still the major used dosimeter?
None of them is normally used for in vivo dose measurements anymore. TLDs and OSLs are still used for research studies and, sometimes, for treatment plan checks in conjunction with anthropomorphic phantoms, but quite seldom for the latter because these are cumbersome methods and much faster and more modern TP verification methods are now in place.
In vivo dosimetry is performed, since quite a long time, with dosimetry diodes.
In the past TLDs were used, but in most radiotherapy departments the use of TLDs for this purpose has been discarded since some decades.
