The fustigation simply is a process that combines fertilization and irrigation. Fertilizer is added into an irrigation system. It is most commonly used by commercial growers. Fustigation is the type of fertilization in which fertilizers are applied through an irrigation system directly to the plant roots. In fustigation, either water-soluble or liquid fertilizers can be used. When choosing a proper fertilizer, crop growth stages should be considered, as well as irrigation system type and water quality.

But in Hand applying it is the old procedure some places is applied more some places less not uniform depends upon farmer experience, more losses.

In fertigation systems obviously nutrients are applied fully dissolved in water and in immediate proximity to the root system of the plant. Therefore they are and remain also fully plant available. "Hand application" has limited frequency, may lead to nutrient fixation in the soil depending on fertiliser source and may be much less adapted to the varying nutrient needs during plant development.

Fertigation the use of nutrient application via the irrigation system has advantages and disadvantages.

The use of venturi applications work best in a greenhouse operation but this demands a sizable capital cost which restricts the economics to high value horticultural crops in many instances.

Because of the need to grow our food more intensively based on shrinking arable land and ever increasing populations the use of the intensive fertigation systems and vertical farming with increase but it will likely cause prices to increase for the consuming public also.

Normally, Fertilizer is in the form of Power which is applied around the surface of the plant. But, under drip method of irrigation, Fertilizer is in the form of liquid which is mixed with the water and applied through the drip lateral with irrigation water.

Nutrients availability will be same in both the scenarios but drip irrigation can be better for commercial cultivation while the first scenario will be better in limited number of plants cultivation.

For fertigation water availability is mandatory. Furthermore, for fertigation, a given amount of fertilizer can be equally distributed with a desired volume of water. In the case of hand application, amounts shall always vary and also be susceptible to the presence of wind during application, as well as temperature and other soil surface factors, including the presence of weeds.

For fertigation the desired amount of nutrients (salts) are disolved in a controlled water volume, by which is possible to keep constant the concentration of ions in the solution, during all process of nutrient supply to plants.

there is hardly any comparison between two contrastingly different methodologies of fertilizer application . Fertigation always ensure sbetter NU_ than hand applied fertilizers , since in latte rpractice , you are not sure of uniform moisture availability throughout the growing season....

Its only related to the saving of fertilisers, minimizing wastage, ensuring soil moisture for movement and uptake of nutrient.

Can someone throw some some lights , why micro-irrigation is so effective compared to conventional basin..?. We will then get the well proven answer for supremacy of fertigation over any other mode of nutrient supply module....

In both way fertilisers are available to plants but in fertigation nutrients are dissolve in water and plants gets it easily
