There is no clear boundary in these fields both are just like a merged parts of a round ball which cannot be separated by a line and biotechnology or microbiology are just the term when we apply microbiology for the welfare of mankind using different tools and techniques that we call as Biotechnology and detailed understanding and study of microorganisms is microbiology.
There is a clear boundary between a Biotecnologist and a microbiologist. Biotechnologist creates products derives from all kind of living materials, while a microbiologist is focuse on microbes, with a wide variety of purposes, not necesarily to créate products.
Microbiology basically deals with study of microbes associated with various fields like in clinical microbiology its the study of microbes causing diseases whereas in industries it can be study of microbial contamination or microbial control or development of microbial products. Some microbes are good and friendly to us though.. But Biotechnology deals with biotechnological application of microbes and plants or animals for technical approaches in industries or labs-say fermentation of grapes to wine or fermentation of milk
