I'm all set up to begin analyzing soil and sediment samples for PAHs by accelerated solvent extraction and GCMS. We need to spike samples with recovery standards, and I am wondering how to best do this to distribute the standards uniformly throughout the soil/sediment. Spiking a small aliquot of standard solution onto the sample followed by grinding? Trying to soak the sample in standard solution and allowing the solvent to evaporate (seems like standard would get lost to container walls)? We're talking about 7g samples here.
