Greettings, I need some guidance. Regarding to the DNA ladder assay for apoptosis detection which is based on electrophoresis analysis, I would like to know what is the gene to be amplified in this test.
There is no PCR product being amplified in what you are referencing, The genome becomes "laddered" due to the activation of endonucleases during apoptosis. What you are seeing is the fragmentation/degradation of the genomic DNA producing the characteristic "laddering".

Javier Soto Yes. You need to isolate and purify it appropriately. Kits are easiest but cost more $$, but you save money in time; or you can go home-brew with recipes for DNA laddering gels if your lab is cash strapped and/or ambitious.
