My doctoral research involves combining Quan with Qual methods (questionnaire, language tasks and interviews). I hope to survey (questionnaire) 300 participants. But I am at a loss what sample size will be commensurate in the 2nd and 3rd stages (which are Qual.).
I need suggestions and recommendations, please!
To help clarify your research question, I recommend looking at various research designs that use qualitative methods as a follow-up to quantitative methods. In particular, are you using what is known as a "sequential explanatory" design where the qualitative research helps you understand the results of the initial quantitative portion of your project? If so, this is frequently summarized as QUANT --> qual, meaning that the qualitative portion of the study involves a smaller, targeted study that depends on the results of the QUANT study.
It depends on your research question. What do you expect base on your premise. Combined research method needs alot efforts. As long as your primary and secondary data matched and reliable you can verify it.
