according to me, you are going to do hydrogenation. during this transition of absorption desorption, there will be entropy change. Are you looiking for alloys whose change in entropy of process is low or what else?
if the this entropy is less what are the advantages?
I shall try to answer this question by an example: When ethene is hydrogenated into ethane using a metallic solid catalyst, the standard entropy change is negative (-120.7 J/mol.K) & this decrease indicates less disorder at room temperature. Of course, this reaction is both spontaneous & exothermic.
The reaction has been feasible due to the adsorption-desorption mechanism.
The metallic alloy, that is sought for storing hydrogen, is one that allows capture of hydrogen followed by slow release of this gas. "Arresting" hydrogen is better done if hydrogenation leads to formation of hydrides rather than converting alkenes to alkanes. Hydrides , such as lithium aluminum hydride or sodium borohydride, are versatile for reactions that require release of hydrogen into the reaction medium. Synthesis of these hydrides, by cheap methods, is an interesting area for research.

I always tried to reduce entropy generation. For solid process the entropy generation calculation is easier rather than gas or liquid. It is enough to calculate exergy extream in inlet and outlet and reduce them .Although you shoud considered heat or work transfered. In my page in researchgate i have sevdral papers about this subject.
