With paradigm shift in mode of generation, no doubt balancing of demand and generation may be still made through renewable generation backed up by storage to face the challenge of uncertainty and variability of this form of generation in steady-state. But for dynamic performance to be acceptable with minimum excursion of frequency, in the absence of large inertia of system hitherto available, what could be the feasible means to achieve desirable results? No doubt Inverter Technology may have a great role to play. FACTS Technology may manage reactive power manipulation to maintain or rather restrict dynamic voltage variation. But how far this Technology too could be effective in restricting frequency variations globally in the system need to be explored.
