how a acidophilic/acidotolerant bacteria can survive in harsh acidic and metal condition.which gene is responsible for maintaining the survival and remediation of toxic metal in such type of condition?
The mechanisms involved for acid tolerance could be very variable. Proton effluxe is a common trend in acidophilic microorganisms. Metal tolerance is related with many other characteristics, as the capability to produce large amounts of EPS and the content of groups as carboxyl, sulfate and hidroxyl. Also the tolerance will be completely different if you are working with planctonic bacteria or biofilm. Also, is important to know if you are working with a particular genus/species. Cheers!
I have an isolate Lysinibacillus genus. Help me that which gene should be taken for showing the acid tolerance and biofilm forming capability. This strain has dnaK and LuxS gene based on the database information. Suggest me, regarding it.
Secondly, this isolate showed the less EPS formation but has tolerance to acidic condition. How should this isolate be dealt to prove its capability.
