I think that in addition to above colleagues, I would ask what is your project about?
Whether you are depositing coatings or testing them? In case of depositing, I can just add that even a simple test of weight gain (with a known density of the coating) or a "caliper/micrometer screw" test on a specimen after coating can be very useful (for coating thickness >100 micrometer).
