We always observe a gap between the charging and discharging curve for different Li-ion battery cathode materials. I read in literature that polarization and overpotential is the main reason for hysteresis loss. They mention the IR drop increases, however that R is there for charging as well. 

I will appreciate if you can share me your opinion on Overpotential and Polarization for hysteresis loss in Li-Ion Battery?
